What’s black and white and red all over? A NEWS PAPER! Hahaha.. my grandfather used to tell me that joke, get it? Its black and white and READ all over the world.. 😉
Now, back to food!
The cold weather is inevitable.. I’ve been working on some different soup and chili recipes and this one I just could not wait to share!!
Incase you have been under a rock forever… the “Yin and Yang” sign is black and white! Once you read my recipe, I am sure the name and the joke.. will make total sense to you!
Casey’s Yin Yang Chili –
non stick spray
1 1/2 lbs of ground beef
1 can of white cannellini beans, rinsed and drained
1 can of black beans, rinsed and drained
2 cups of chopped tomato (you can use canned or finely chopped fresh)
3 teaspoons of chili powder
2 teaspoons of garlic powder
1 tablespoon of salt
1 teaspoon of pepper
toppings of choice (IE: scallion, sour cream, avocado, cheese, crushed pretzels etc)
- Spray your saute pan and heat over medium high heat. Brown your beef breaking apart with a spatula or wooden spoon. Drain any excess fat.
- Add in your rinsed beans, chopped tomato and seasonings. Stir to combine.
- Cover and allow the chili to simmer for about 8 minutes. Check to make sure your beans are cooked through. Serve hot with toppings of your choice!
Super simple and crazy delicious.. this black and white (and red all over 😉 ) chili will be a goto dish you for on a chilly day! (pun intended) Its healthy, hearty and inexpensive..
So grab a good book, or settle down to binge watch some Netflix with a nice huge bowl of chili with some fixin’s and embrace the cold weather! xo
